Limited Warranty Policy
TrueCoat Painters LLC (“TCP”) provides this Limited Warranty for all residential and commercial painting Services performed in accordance with the agreement between TCP and the Customer (the “Agreement”). This limited warranty applies only if the Customer has paid in full for all Work and materials in accordance with the Agreement. This Policy is part of the Agreement and defines the warranty coverage, limitations, and process for Customers to make warranty claims. Capitalized terms in this Policy have the meanings defined in this Policy or in the Agreement.
- General Limited Warranty Terms
1.1 Workmanship Limited Warranty
TCP warrants that all Work will be performed in a professional manner consistent with commercially reasonable standards of the painting industry and as described in the Agreement. TCP’s workmanship warranty includes proper surface preparation and paint application for interior, exterior, cabinet, deck, and fence painting projects.
1.2 Materials Limited Warranty
TCP warrants that materials used for interior and exterior painting will be free from common paint failures such as fading, chalking, flashing, and lapping, during any warranty period applicable to the materials used for the Agreement project.
1.3 Warranty Period
The warranty period begins on the date of the final Inspection Report. The warranty period end date is determined by the type of Work performed, surface painted, type of paint used, and whether the Customer has purchased the TCP Extended Warranty Program (if applicable) as described below. All warranty claims must be submitted timely. TCP’s Limited Warranty does not apply to any claims submitted after the applicable warranty period expires. Performance of warranty Work by TCP does not extend any warranty period.
- Warranty by Project Type
2.1 Cabinet Painting Warranty
Warranty Period and Surfaces:
- 2 years for non-compliant workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for cabinets made of finished wood in good condition using Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Paint.
- 3 years for non-compliant workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for cabinets made of finished wood in good condition using Sherwin Williams Gallery Series Primer and Paint.
- 6 months for non-compliant workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for cabinets made of Thermo-Foil, Melamine, Vinyl, or surfaces in worn or damaged condition.
Conditions:
- If the Inspection Report does not specify which warranty period applies, Customer will be verbally informed which period applies.
- Customer must follow TCP’s Cabinet Care Guidelines and allow a 30-day curing period post-completion.
Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant workmanship, at no cost to Customer, if a valid claim is submitted. Leftover paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available. If no leftover paint is usable, the Customer may be charged for the cost of new paint.
Painted Cabinet Care Guidelines:
Customer agrees to:
- Wait 30 days before cleaning or using cabinets heavily.
- Always clean cabinets with mild soap and a soft cloth.
- Avoid moisture, abrasive products, or pulling on painted surfaces.
- Use knobs/handles and prevent impact or dragging objects across the painted surfaces.
2.2 Interior Painting Warranty
Warranty Period:
- 2 years for non-compliant materials and workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report.
Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant Work at no labor or material cost if a valid claim is submitted. Leftover paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available, but Customer will not be charged for paint if leftover paint is not available. TCP will use the same, closely matched, or equivalent paint.
Cabinet parts may be removed, repainted off-site, and reinstalled.
2.3 Exterior Wood, Composite, Brick, Stucco, Concrete, Masonry Surfaces
Standard Warranty Period and Surfaces:
- Surfaces – TCP’s standard limited warranty applies to the following vertical surfaces: wood, hardie board, composite, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), stucco, brick, concrete, and other masonry vertical surface.
- 5 years for non-compliant materials and workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for Work using TCP’s standard exterior product, Sherwin Williams Latitude (satin), Sherwin Williams Loxon XP (satin), or one of the paint types listed below.
Extended Warranty (with purchase of TCP Extended Warranty Program):
The extended warranty period duration depends on the product used for the Work:

Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant Work at no labor or material cost if a valid claim is submitted. Leftover paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available, but Customer will not be charged for paint if leftover paint is not available. TCP will reperform the Work using the same type and color of paint, if available, or, if not available, with equivalent paint or the closest comparable alternative.
2.4 Exterior Metal Surfaces
Warranty Period and Surfaces:
- Surfaces: vinyl and metal.
- 3 Years for non-compliant materials and workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report.
Conditions:
Customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Due to expansion, rust, or surface slickness, long-term adhesion of the paint may be affected.
- Surface cleaning and maintenance are recommended after 3 years.
Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant Work at no labor or material cost. Leftover paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available, but Customer will not be charged for paint if leftover paint is not available. TCP will use the same or equivalent paint.
2.5 Fence Staining or Painting
Standard Warranty Period and Surfaces:
- Surfaces: wood fence
- 1 Year for non-compliant materials and workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for any wood staining.
- Surfaces: metal fence
- 2 Years for non-compliant materials and workmanship not noted in the Inspection Report for any metal fence priming & painting.
Extended Warranty for Wood Fences (with purchase of TCP Extended Warranty Program):
The extended warranty period duration for decks is 2 year so long as the product Sherwin Williams SuperDeck 9600 or Sherwin Williams WoodScapes Rain Refresh Solid Stain is used.
Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant Work at no labor or material cost. Leftover stain or paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available, but Customer will not be charged for stain or paint if leftover paint is not available. TCP will use the same or equivalent stain or paint.
2.6 Deck Painting or Staining
Standard Warranty Period and Surfaces:
- Surfaces: wood, composite, Trex, or similar.
- No standard warranty offered for decks.
Extended Warranty (with purchase of TCP Extended Warranty Program):
The extended warranty period duration for decks is 1 year so long as the product SuperDeck 9600 is used.
Remedies:
- TCP will reperform non-compliant Work at no labor or material cost. Leftover stain or paint from the original Work will be used for warranty repairs when available, but Customer will not be charged for stain or paint if leftover paint is not available. TCP will use the same or equivalent stain or paint.
- Making a Warranty Claim
3.1 Initial Inspection (Inspection Report)
Upon project completion, the Customer and TCP’s crew leader must jointly inspect the Work and document any non-compliant materials or workmanship in writing (“Inspection Report”). Any identified issues will be resolved by TCP at no cost within 14 days of the Inspection Report.
3.2 Warranty Claim Submission
If Customer identifies non-compliant materials or workmanship after the date of the Inspection Report, but within the warranty period, Customer agrees to:
- Contact TCP at

(720) 923-8600 and explain the nature of the warranty claim.
- Provide TCP with a description and, if possible, photos/videos of the non-compliant Work
- Schedule an inspection by a TCP representative to determine if a TCP warranty remedy is appropriate under this Policy.
- Warranty Exclusions
No TCP warranty of any type applies if the Customer provides the paint, stain, or materials.
No TCP warranty of any type applies to defects or damage caused by:
4.1 Customer or Third-Party Actions
- Accidents, misuse, abuse, or neglect not caused by TCP.
- Failure to follow proper care or maintenance guidelines.
- Abnormal use, improper cleaning methods, or harsh chemicals.
- Failure to pay for the Work or provide TCP with reasonable access for inspection and performance of warranty work.
4.2 Out-of-Scope or Non-TCP Work
- Conditions outside of the defined scope of Work described in the Agreement.
- Any work or materials not provided or applied by TCP personnel.
- Surface preparation or repairs completed by others.
- Peeling of previous layers of paint not applied by TCP.
4.3 Surface or Material Conditions
- Varnished, clear-coated, or bare wood surfaces.
- Pressure-treated wood (may retain excessive moisture).
- Caulking, galvanized metal, or plastic surfaces.
Horizontal surfaces where moisture can collect (e.g. stairs, railings, porches, and wood gutters).
- Cabinets or wood surfaces that are pre-painted, cracked, chipped, chemically stained, or otherwise damaged.
- Surfaces affected by mill-glazing (e.g., smooth cedar) or tannin bleed (e.g., knots, cedar, redwood).
4.4 Environmental or Structural Factors
- Normal wear and tear or fading due to aging or sun exposure.
- Weather-related damage (hail, snow, rain, wind, etc.).
- Damage resulting from fire, flood, acts of God, vandalism, or any cause beyond TCP’s control.
- Moisture intrusion, including leaking roofs, poor ventilation, or unsealed windows.
- Mold, mildew, rust, or other environmental contaminants.
- Cracks caused by expansion, settling, structural movement, or ground shifting.
- Substrate conditions such as excessive moisture content or structural defects.
- Transferability
The TCP Limited Warranty or Extended Warranty Program is fully transferable to a new property owner within the applicable warranty period if TCP is notified, in writing, within the first six (6) months of the new ownership. TCP recommends Customers retain a copy of the signed Agreement and proof of payment to facilitate warranty claims or transfers.
